Ecuador

Be prepared! Ecuador is a country that has almost everything: jungle, snow-capped mountains, stunning beaches, and, one of the most unique destinations in the world, the Galapagos Islands. With all these varied destinations to visit in one place, you need to be ready to enjoy whatever you plan to do, which is why we’ve put together this helpful list of gear to pack when visiting this beautiful country.

When you arrive in the country, you can land in Quito (capital of Ecuador) or Guayaquil (the largest city in Ecuador). This means that, in the case of Quito, you will need to be prepared for high altitude and cold weather, and, in the case of Guayaquil, a warmer, coastal climate. For mountain regions or sierra, where Quito is located, we recommend always preparing for the colder climate with a windbreaker, pants and thicker clothing; Although this weather can change throughout the day, you should always bring sunscreen and plenty of water when visiting. While you are in Guayaquil, and in the coastal region, you will be immersed in a much warmer climate and you may just want to walk around in shorts and a t-shirt. Sunscreen and plenty of water are essential.

Now, for the Amazon region of the country, it is a wonderful place, rich in flora and fauna, with breathtaking landscapes, and, an unforgettable experience. As you might think, the jungle has a tropical climate, where precipitation is abundant, during the rainy season. The climate generally varies so it is always good to be prepared. Light clothing, such as t-shirts, light pants (jeans not recommended!), a long-sleeved, lightweight shirt that protects from the sun and mosquitoes, is the best way to dress. It is best to have a waterproof poncho or light jacket. Sunscreen, insect repellent and plenty of water are also essential.

Finally, we arrive at the main attraction of Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands. This archipelago has two seasons, dry and wet, and both seasons can give tourists great opportunities to see different animals, both on land and in the surrounding waters. The rainy season brings heavy rain and colder waters, which offers more opportunities for marine life to come closer to the shores of the islands, and, also, means that you need to be prepared with warmer clothing and waterproof items. The dry season brings more sunshine to the islands, and with it many species of birds migrating and breeding on the islands, here light clothing is welcome, as it will be very hot. Sunscreen and insect repellent are strongly recommended during both seasons.

Ecuador is a wonderful place that will likely make you fall in love with its people, wildlife, and cultural experiences.
