The adventure begins at the Eloy Alfaro station in Chimbacalle, from where we head south to the “Avenue of Volcanoes”. The Pichincha, Atacazo, Pasochoa, Viudita, Rumiñahui volcanoes, among others, border the railway. The road descends through the “Panzaleo jungles” from where the wood for the construction of Quito’s churches came, through meadows, cultivated lands and haciendas.
In Tambillo and Machachi, we will enjoy the cuisine and culture of the chagras, the Ecuadorian cowboys. At El Boliche, the recreational area of the Cotopaxi National Park, we discover its unique flora and fauna on an easy walk, then return to Machachi for lunch (not included) and the opportunity to visit the beautifully preserved “Granja La Estación”, where there is an exotic animal farm.
